Lever Harp Teacher's Symposium Workshops
May 30 -June 1, 2008
Ray Pool will present four hours of classwork on Harmony.
In his
own words,
- Why it's important to develop a parallel
between spoken language and written music
- How to present it
in the lesson "bit by bit"
- Why it is important in sight reading
- How it facilitates playing
from a "fakebook"
- How to teach improvisation after building
a "harmonic
vocabulary"
This topic that so many people find deep
and murky can really be made very "user
friendly" with the right attitude from the teacher.
Elizabeth
Etters Asmus will present four hours of "How
to Teach Basic Lever Harp Technique" a.k.a. "How to Teach in the
REAL World."
While focusing mainly on the adult beginner, Elizabeth
will include techniques for instructing the younger harpist.
Sally
Perreten will present four hours of Advanced
Techniques/Celtic techniques and Stumbling Blocks for Adult learners.
Lee Gayman will present an hour of lever harp maintenance: re-stringing, adjusting levers, making small repairs.
